Received a call purportedly from O2. When I mentioned I was only 10 and used a made-up name, he continued probing for my information. I was instantly suspicious because O2 would NEVER ask for that code. Turns out, they’d hacked into my O2 account and were trying to swap my contact info for theirs to take control. To confirm such changes, O2 sends a six-digit code via SMS with a warning clearly saying "NEVER SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE." Please, don’t answer calls from this number and change your password straight away just in case they’ve got access already.

My lad got a call offering an astonishing discount on a brand new iPhone 13 from O2, claiming he wouldn’t need to settle the outstanding balance on his current contract. Regrettably, he ended up sharing his details since this was precisely what he was after. Not long after, his bank reached out, alerting him to suspicious activity on his account, and they blocked four attempted transactions amounting to £300, £400, £300, and a peculiar £6 headed to a location in the Philippines. Fortunately, no money went through, and they’ve put a hold on the card. I reported the incident to O2, expressing my utter dismay at their apparent lapse in data security that allowed someone to gather so much personal information. They simply hung up. :-( Just checked my emails and there’s a dodgy message now claiming I’ve got a rose-tinted iPhone 13 sitting in my basket. I've promptly changed all my passwords and tightened up security.

This seems like a total scam. I got a really pushy bloke trying to make me put in a code sent by text. I asked if I could just have a minute to make sure he was legit, but he was dead set on not letting me check the number at all. Wouldn't take no for an answer so I told him to jog on. I rang 02 and they confirmed it’s a known scam doing the rounds. Watch out, folks!
