Somebody phoned me asking if I was pleased with how an accident claim turned out. I told them the insurer had paid up, but I hadn’t yet got my excess refunded. They said they’d check on that for me! The number they called from was 02039317994, but I haven’t a clue who it was. Tried calling back using 141 before the number, but it just kept being engaged every time I tried.

He assured me it was a no win, no fee arrangement and implied there was no pressure to proceed. I refrained from disclosing any further information beyond what he already knew. He mentioned he would ring me back to discuss additional aspects, yet I have not heard anything more since then.

However, upon picking up, they proceeded to inquire about someone else entirely-the individual responsible for the collision with my vehicle last year. Interestingly, they mentioned they were associated with Nationwide. Quite the mix-up!
