I got a call from a number that looked like 02039238598. The caller said they were from HMRC and said I had to contact them immediately or face serious problems. It felt really suspicious and I’d say it’s definitely a SCAM. Also, the voice was an automated one with an American accent, which is weird because HM Revenue & Customs should be all British. Just watch out for callers like this or similar numbers - don’t get caught out or risk any trouble.

Sounds like one of those energy firms. You won’t get a call through if you try to ring back. Often it’s someone with an Asian or Middle Eastern accent on the line. They’re really pushy and just want your money no matter what. I couldn’t find any legit company info either. Honestly, pretty dodgy and a shame you can’t contact them again.

This number got in touch with me last week on my mobile, asking for me by first name, pretending to be from an energy company. I wasn't impressed and told them exactly where to stick it! They called me again today (Tuesday 14th Jan) at 3.03am and then twice more during work hours. Absolutely furious about being woken up so early, especially recognising the number straight away. If they call again, I’m definitely picking up to give them a piece of my mind.

Looks like this number is linked to loads of scams. Nothing just annoying here, it’s proper criminal behaviour. Anyone receiving calls from it should definitely notify the police. Search for ‘action fraud’, pick the ‘police.uk’ site, then head to the ‘reporting’ page (not the ‘victim’ one) to flag it as phishing. They won’t ask for any personal details. It’s quicker than filing a report here. The cops only get a clear picture of how big this scam is if every single case gets reported.
