Somebody saying they’re from HMRC left a really pushy voicemail, threatening me with legal trouble if I don’t ring back. Proper annoying!

Just received one of those automated calls, and, as several folks have pointed out, it was supposedly from HMRC. They tried to intimidate me with talk of impending legal action, but would you believe it? The voice was from a woman named Linda White. It’s quite amusing, really-can’t they come up with something a bit more inventive than colour-themed last names?

Yesterday, I got a voicemail from this same number about some tax issue. They said to speak to a Mr Grey and warned not to ignore it or there’d be legal trouble. I didn’t pick up when they called though.

Received a voicemail from someone claiming to be Officer Denis Gray at HM Revenue and Customs. He left a number and warned me to ring back, otherwise there’d be serious legal trouble ahead. Quite dodgy if you ask me!

I just got the exact same voicemail again. Wonder why they keep sending it? Really annoying.

I've received automated calls from this number, which masquerades as the HM Revenue and Customs, targeting unsuspecting folks across the UK. They attempt to instil fear by making threats of legal action, all while trying to trick you into pressing a specific key on your phone. It's rather sinister, as they spin a tale that casts you in the role of the offender, all for the sake of their scam.

Got a voicemail saying HMRC was trying to reach me. When I rang back, they made it sound like bailiffs had been sent by the courts over unpaid tax and that I had to pay straight away. They said I couldn't use a card and had to send the cash to a solicitor who would handle paying HMRC. Honestly, I nearly fell for it, but then my daughter phoned and told me to just hang up. It's scary to think how many elderly or vulnerable folks must have been caught out by this.

I received a rather alarming message from someone purporting to be Officer Dennis Grey with HMRC. He insisted that I must return the call, either personally or through my solicitor, citing an urgent matter that can't be overlooked. He was quite forceful, warning that if I failed to respond, I might be in for some serious legal trouble. The message wrapped up with a rather curt "Goodbye and take care." Quite unsettling, to say the least!

He insisted that either my solicitor or I should get back to him pronto, stressing that it’s a matter of some urgency. I received a call from this number, with the caller claiming to represent HMRC. The chap on the line insisted on going through a security check before revealing that I was under investigation for fraud and tax evasion. He demanded some answers, but I quickly realised it was a scam. Before I could say much more, they hung up on me!

It's the same monotonous spiel as others have mentioned. I'm utterly exasperated with these sorts of phone calls; just got two in a row regarding tax scams and car accidents. Honestly, I've been flat out doing absolutely nothing in my living room during this lockdown!
