Got a call from someone pretending to work for a firm linked to British Gas saying we were overcharged because they’d used the wrong meter reading on our last bill, and that we should get money back. They asked for our meter number and mentioned our direct debit, which we don’t even have set up. I was suspicious straight away and told them I'd ring back, but they weren’t happy about that so I just cut the call. They phoned back four times in a row right after, but I didn’t pick up. Now that number is blocked from my phone!

Got a call from some automated voice saying it was HMRC and there was an urgent case against me. They told me to ring back straight away. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.
