I got a call from 02045182195, from a woman who said she was checking on my kitchen appliances insurance - the freezer, fridge and washing machine. She said my three-year cover was almost up and I needed to pay a last bill of £90, then they’d send over the documents. I asked her to send the documents before I paid anything, so I could have my solicitor review them first. After that she just ended the call, so I blocked her number straight away.

This is part 2 of my experience. I asked the guy if he was Yugashen Govender, and he said yes. After chatting for 38 minutes, I politely ended the call. When I looked up the company on Companies House, it showed Yugashen living in South Africa, but the company itself is registered in London. A quick Google on their address just pointed me to another firm that provides London business addresses - 1stformations or something like that. Seems like they’re probably working out of South Africa but using a London contact to appear local.

Had a call today from a lady named Miranda, she had an Asian accent and was trying to sell me an extended warranty for my washing machine. When I said it was already insured, she pushed to add warranties on other appliances too. I got a nearly identical call yesterday, same type of sales spiel but from a different person, also with an Asian accent. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Phone rang and they wanted to chat with my missus. I told them she was poorly so I’d answer instead, but they wouldn’t have it. Said it had to be my wife. I asked if it was about something medical and they said no. So I said I’m the one here, I can take the call. They just said they’d ring back later when I wasn’t about and keep phoning till they got her. Bit odd really.

I got a call from a woman who sounded Asian, claiming to be from Platinum Home Care. Now, there is a legit firm with this name in Chichester, but this call was definitely a con. She tried telling me my washing machine insurance had expired, which was total rubbish. Be careful, it’s dodgy!

I told him straight up that it sounds like a scam and to remove my details from their list. I doubt they’ll do it though. Shows how old their records must be!

Someone called me, said her name was Crystal and she was from some home appliance warranty company. She told me payments would be cut in half because I’m a loyal customer. Then she asked for my bank details to set up new direct debits, saying the old ones would be cancelled. I wasn’t comfortable sharing my info and I ended the call. After that, she rang back saying it was legit and told me to phone the number she called me from to verify it. I chose not to call back.

Got a call about an extended warranty for our electrical appliances. They said it covered three things: fridge, freezer, and washing machine. When I asked what brand they were, the guy said the info wasn’t passed on by the manufacturer. I told him we actually got a US-style fridge/freezer in May, but he insisted they hadn’t been informed about the new one. After messing around and making it clear I knew it was a scam, he still wouldn’t end the call and even said his firm wasn’t paying for the phone, I was! Eventually, I just left the phone on the desk and walked away.

Thing is, I’ve never had any insurance with these folks to begin with, whether they're legit or not. There’s a few proper companies with similar names out there - honestly, they should probably take legal action against these scammers if only they could track them down. The weird thing is, they were asking for someone who isn’t me, using info from like 20 years ago. The guy, Kevin, realised I wasn’t the person they wanted and just hung up. I didn’t even realise these guys had rung me back on the 4th of May until I spotted my comment further down the list. They made it past my phone’s initial call block but hung up when asked to give their name. I’ve blocked their number now, fingers crossed for no more calls (at least till they switch numbers again!). If you want a good call blocker, grab a BT Decor 2600 - got mine from Currys for about 24 quid, and it’s really good!
