I got this robotic call asking me to press 1 if I wanted to talk to a guy who claimed HMRC was suing me for tax fraud and that I needed to pay up. He was threatening that they’d confiscate my passport, take away my driving licence, and even freeze my bank account. Felt proper dodgy to me.

I received a rather alarming automated phone call today. The voice on the line requested me to press 1 to connect with someone who claimed to represent HMRC. He proceeded to accuse me of committing tax fraud and insisted that there was a lawsuit in the pipeline against me. To add to the unease, he warned that my passport and driving licence would be confiscated, alongside the freezing of my bank account if I didn’t settle the alleged debt immediately. Quite the scare tactic!
