I don’t want one, and the more they keep calling, the more I’m set against getting one! They’ve also used these numbers before: 0330 094 5231, 0121 809 5779, and 0203 907 6495. Got a call from someone claiming to be with Shell Energy, saying they needed to set up an appointment to swap out our meter. They even knew my name. When I told them I didn’t want or need a smart meter, he asked why I was against it! I ended the call and phoned Shell myself (using another phone) to check, and they said it wasn’t their call.

They requested my address, which I provided, and then proceeded to ask for my email address. In response, I asked them to verify their identity by sharing my email, just to ensure they were genuinely from Shell. Their reply was that they would send me an email instead, but I’ve yet to see any message arrive in my inbox. Out of curiosity, I browsed through the official Shell website to check if this number was mentioned anywhere, but it’s nowhere to be found. When I attempted to ring it back, I was greeted by a voice message related to Shell energy smart meter appointments. Quite puzzling, if you ask me!

He said he was ringing on behalf of Shell, and I quickly shot back, “Nice try, that’s a scam!” Then I blocked the number to stop him bothering me again. I wasn’t sure if this call was legit or a scam, the person claimed to be from Shell Energy wanting to swap out my meters. I said I didn’t want a smart meter, and they told me mine were out of date even though they’re only 25 years old.
