2 monthsOn 17/06/2026 I got a call from someone saying they were from Barclays security. They told me that two people with Asian names from Manchester had tried to take money out of my current account. They asked if I'd been around Manchester recently. At first I thought it sounded legit, but then they started pushing me to log into my computer to check my account. Luckily, my wife stepped in and ended the call. Barclays later told me they never made that call. How did these scammers get hold of my number, my name and my account details? It's really worrying!BarclaysManchester6 monthsGot a call from a random number today claiming to be Barclays. They said there was some suspicious activity on my account. Even though they knew some of my info, they wanted the code on my card. I told them I’d check my online banking first, then they started getting all pushy. So I just ended the call.Barclays10 monthsSome bloke called saying he was from Barclays, claimed there were two dodgy payments taken from my account. He even knew my name which made it seem legit. I asked him for a Barclays contact number so I could ring them back, and also asked what other transactions I’d made recently. He couldn’t answer any of that, so I ended the call and then checked the number myself.Barclays10 monthsGot a call about some dodgy transactions on my Trading212 card. The bloke already knew my name, email, and address, which was a bit creepy. When I asked for a 6-digit code and said I’d ring the proper customer service myself, he snapped and ended the call. Then he rang again the following week, and I told him I wasn’t falling for it and that I’d informed the card company. He threatened to "get me anyway". What a charming fella! Honestly, I’d suggest sending him packing straight away.2 yearsTotally a scam!!!2 yearsGot a call from this number earlier and the bloke said he was from HSBC. He asked if I’d approved a payment of more than £1900 to Argos and another one to William Hill. I told him no, I hadn’t made any such payments. He kept asking loads more questions but I just ended the call and said goodbye.HSBCArgosWilliam Hill2 yearsGot a call from an unknown number I didn’t ask for, didn’t answer and just blocked it straight away.2 yearsToday, 21st October 2024, I got a call from someone named Callum. He told me that my Virgin Credit Card was used in the last 15 minutes on £1500 at Argos and a few hundred at William Hill in Manchester. I asked him to give me the last four digits of my card to prove he was really from Virgin’s fraud department. He said he couldn’t provide that info, which instantly made me suspicious. Surely a real rep would know those details? What’s worse is that he rang me about six months back with exactly the same story, trying to scam me into giving my account info. Definitely a fraud call.CallumVirgin Credit CardArgosWilliam HillManchesterVirgin2 yearsI got a call from a guy named Callum who claimed there were a couple of tries to use my bank card. He refused to share his last name but insisted he worked for Santander. It felt fishy, especially when he told me I’d been rude to him. I ended the call and contacted Santander’s fraud team straight away. Turns out, he was trying to scam me. Luckily, no unauthorised transactions had been made on my card. I’ve since blocked it and am just waiting for a replacement to arrive.CallumSantanderSubmit Your Own Report (020 3912 2003)
