Don't bother chatting with these scammers, just report them straight to the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) via https://www.tpsonline.org.uk. Also, make sure your phone number is registered with TPS to cut down on these dodgy cold calls. Once you're on the list, you can report any nasty fraudsters who keep ringing illegally. Cold calling is actually against the law if your number’s on the TPS, and getting on the list is dead simple.

The real Business Energy Direct is a well-known company from South Yorkshire, and they use the number 01709 578999. The dodgy caller had an email from [email protected], which definitely isn’t genuine. Looks like it’s a scam call centre operating out of Lahore and connected to Maxen Power. I wouldn’t trust them at all.

When I pushed back against their claims, they completely disregarded my concerns, leading me to hang up after demanding they erase my details from their records. To my dismay, I was met with some rather unpleasant language. Following that encounter, I was inundated with a slew of other calls from different numbers, all peddling the same dubious narrative. Eventually, I felt compelled to ignore all calls, which isn’t ideal, especially since it’s our business line they’re bombarding. Quite the hassle, to say the least!

After dodging this number repeatedly, my colleague finally took the plunge and was met with a delightful barrage of insults, being called a 'wanker' and a 'tosser'! Charming, isn't it? He promptly hung up, only for the caller to ring back immediately. On my third attempt, I answered, and lo and behold, he was eager to have a little banter about my breasts, which I found rather hilarious and decided to humour him! It's utterly appalling that these con artists are free to pester us with such foul and unsavoury calls.

I received a rather persistent call from my energy company informing me that my bill would be increasing. They suggested that I might want to switch to another provider. To top it off, they mentioned that someone would ring me regarding this matter. Instead of a single call, I was bombarded with a staggering 17 calls in a single day! Strangely, they seemed to know my current energy supplier as well as my home address. All the calls came from a rather peculiar-sounding individual.

Received a call from someone with an Indian accent, claiming to be ‘assisting’ me with an issue regarding overcharging. I made it clear that the real concern I had at that moment was the interruption of this call itself. Despite my straightforward response, he kept pushing. Normally, I can courteously request these callers to remove me from their contact list, but this time I found that simply ending the call and blocking the number was my only option.

Got a call tonight from this bloke using three different numbers in about five minutes. He spoke in really rough English, asking for the business owner. I replied with some complete nonsense, barely a real language at all, and he got proper annoyed, started swearing at me. I was quietly chuckling to myself on the call. Didn’t seem to appreciate my little stunt one bit! Properly messed with the scammer, haha! 😂

Sounds like a scam to me. Got a call from someone speaking really poor English, asking loads of questions about my company’s energy provider and bills. They wouldn’t share any info about themselves, and when I told them I wasn’t interested, they got quite annoyed and rude. They just ended the call right after.
