I received a phone call today from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from EE mobile. she said they were offering a 45% discount. However, I quickly realized that it was a scam. I received a rather dubious phone call earlier from a woman whose accent suggested she was of Asian descent, purporting to represent Virgin Media. She insisted that my internet security had been breached. However, when I inquired about my name, she abruptly cut the line. It was evident to me from the outset that this was a scam attempt.

Avoid picking up. These scammers have some software that scans the web for phone numbers posted on genuine platforms like social media or classifieds such as Gumtree. Once they spot a number, their call centre in India makes the calls, trying to trick folks with schemes about car crashes and the like. They tend to ring up around three times back-to-back, often changing the caller ID to different UK numbers, but you can tell they’re not really local. If you’ve just put your number out online and get a call shortly after, best not to pick up - just block it!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Curry's/PC World, stating that they were authorized by Vodafone to facilitate a phone upgrade. However, when I expressed my concern about why Vodafone themselves did not contact me, the caller abruptly disconnected the call. This incident certainly raises suspicion and strongly suggests that it was an attempted scam.

I was recently approached by someone named 'Alena' who claimed that I had completed an online form expressing interest in investments, even though I hadn't. Alena offered to provide guidance on trading in financial markets. When I asked her location, she mentioned being in London and stated that the company she represented was fully registered with the FCA/FCS, among others. However, she stumbled when asked about the local time and it became evident that she was likely calling from abroad. Moreover, the call quality was quite poor, with substantial background noise resembling a bustling call centre. All of these factors raised suspicion and made it seem like a potential scam.

I have been bothered by numerous phone calls from a person named Dominic, claiming that I had requested financial advice. This is not true, as I have not made any such inquiries. After his initial call, I blocked his number, but he called again using a different number. I blocked that number as well, but he persisted and called me back using yet another number. The numbers he used are: 02039051202 and 02034778205.
