I ended up just hanging up as soon as I picked up the call.

Got a call from someone saying they were with o2, but their accent sounded really heavily Indian. When I asked for some ID and told him to get lost, he basically told me to f*** off in a much ruder way. Definitely not how a proper o2 worker would act, especially if there was a real issue. Total scam!

This number just rang me. A bloke with a strong Indian accent claimed he was calling from O2, offering me a discount on my phone bill. I asked if he was sure he'd dialled the correct number, and he said yes. So I challenged him to tell me my name and address, and then he just ended the call. Never got to mention I’m not even an O2 customer haha :D

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2, trying to trick me into giving them my two-factor authentication code. Definitely a scam! They were basically fishing for my login details.

Got a call saying they're giving me huge discounts on my mobile deal. Then they asked for the security code, the one only the actual account holder should know. Even O2 employees never ask for that info. As soon as they wanted that code, I was sure it was a scam.

Some bloke pretending to be alright got proper rude when I said no. Then he tried to sweeten the deal with a discount on my bill, but just kept shuffling me between departments. What worries me is they did an OTC on me and it seemed real, so watch out and don't get caught out!

Received a call from someone named Michael with a strong accent, claiming to be from O2 and offering a 40% bill discount for a year. He told me he'd send two texts to set it up. When I tried to ask questions, he kept interrupting me. I asked how I could be sure it wasn’t a scam, and he just kept repeating he was from O2 and that the discount was real. When I pressed further about trusting him, he ended up saying I was unlucky and wouldn’t get the discount. Not sure who cut off the call first after that.

Got a dodgy call pretending to be from O2. They try to tempt you with a discount and then want to get into your account. I told O2 about it and they said this scam has been going on for ages, usually hitting people on Friday afternoons. The trick is they’ll place an order for a phone that isn’t even right on your account, send it out to you, and then the catch is they give you a fake return address to send it back to. Proper sneaky stuff.

Yet again, I’ve had to block another pesky caller!

Got a call claiming it was from o2 about my bill, but I know I'm not with them so it had to be a scam. Pretty obvious since o2 isn't my internet provider.

FRAUD ALERT - I received a call purporting to be from O2, claiming I was eligible for a discount. The chap on the phone mentioned he would send me a text, and sure enough, a message arrived from O2 containing a security code. He then insisted I share this code with him, but I remembered the warning that states one must never disclose such information. Naturally, I refused. He became quite irate, insisting I wasn't comprehending his instructions, to which I replied that I understood perfectly well - the message categorically advised against sharing the code with anyone, even O2 personnel. I decided to end the call and reached out to O2 directly. They confirmed my suspicions; it was indeed a scam. The bloke was trying to gain unauthorised access to my account. When he couldn’t get through the proper security measures, he simply asked for that code, making his ruse seem plausible. Definitely a scam!

I appreciate the insights shared by others in this thread-it's comforting to know I wasn't off the mark with my instincts. The caller was incredibly insistent, claiming to be from the O2 head office and promising a hefty 40% discount. When I requested a direct line for him to call me back on while I pondered his offer, he seemed quite agitated and insisted that he needed to process everything immediately, which only heightened my suspicions. The pressure he applied was overwhelming, and I firmly told him I wouldn't be bullied into revealing any details over the phone before hanging up. Best to steer clear of this number!

I received a call purporting to be from O2, suggesting I was eligible for some sort of discount on my account and offering to send over a code to maintain it. When I probed a bit further, hoping to clarify which discount they were referring to, the person on the line claimed I wasn’t grasping their explanation and insisted on transferring me to a supervisor. I decided to hang up, and they miraculously rang back almost immediately, followed by another call the next day, both of which I chose to ignore. To be on the safe side, I reached out to a pal who works at O2, and they informed me that it definitely sounded suspect.

I got a call from what sounded like an insurance firm after I did a quote online, so it seemed like a genuine follow-up. That said, I’m not entirely convinced they don’t also ring up people out of the blue, which is why I’m giving it a meh rating.

I received an unexpected call from 02039003034, purporting to be linked to O2. Strangely enough, they cut off the line as soon as I started asking them questions. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Somebody rang me saying they were from O2 and promised a half price discount on my bills. They said I'd get a text with a one-time code from O2 and then asked me to share that code with them. Turns out it's a total scam. I hung up straight away. Later, I got two texts from O2, the first one was a warning telling me if anyone calls asking for a code, to just hang up because they’re not actually from O2.

Asserts that they're from O2.

The moment I picked up the phone, they hung up. Interestingly, I received two calls yesterday from a number strikingly alike, but the last digits were 3007 rather than 3034. I can't shake the feeling that this might be a scam.
