Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent just before 9 am. The phone didn’t ring right through straight away which made me think it was from one of those call centres. He greeted me with a “good afternoon” even though it was around 8:45 in the morning here, so I reckon he might be outside the UK even though the number looked like it was UK-based. He mentioned BT in the beginning but I cut him off at that mention, thinking it was either a scam or some dodgy sales attempt. Based on what others have said, I’d say this could be quite risky.

Got a call from this number bright and early at 7:40 today. We're pensioners and these early morning calls really stress us out, especially since it's not the first time this week we've had one at such an ungodly hour. Wish there was a way to make it stop.

some bloke with an asian accent rang me saying he was from open reach. he kept saying someone was using our internet without permission but i couldnt really catch what he was saying properly. i told him i thought it was a scam and just cut the call off.

Today, 26th January 2021 at 11:42 am, our landline received a call from the number [02038940928]. The caller, who had an Indian accent, claimed to represent BT's tech team and mentioned he was calling from Highgate about our internet connection. He asked me to stay close to the BT router. When I requested his contact number, he said it was different. After questioning him more, I told him I'd be contacting BT directly to check on his story, and then he abruptly ended the call after about two minutes.
