Late afternoon I got a call from a lady about a free survey for loft insulation. When I asked if the actual work would be free, like some government scheme, she dodged the question. Then she kept going on about “lung problems” before finally hanging up on me quite abruptly. I’d already figured out she wasn’t being straight, though looking back I probably should have just cut the call off sooner.

This kinda call is pretty common. Occasionally, I like to joke around with whoever's on the phone. Not sure if it’s some robo thing or real person, but loads of times I reply all loud in a thick Glaswegian accent, like "WHADDYA WANT!" That usually throws them off! Sometimes I just say I'm busy on the toilet! Be careful out there!

This woman called me saying there was an issue with fibreglass on homes in my neighbourhood that needed sorting. I tried repeatedly to get the name of her company, but she just got louder and started shouting at me. Then she just ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I picked up after no reply, and this weird sing-songy voice goes, "This is your neighbourhood energy company," then just stops. I said, "Hello, are you there?" but got nothing back. Super strange. Definitely not a legit call. I’d just hang up next time or steer clear altogether.

Got a call about some energy savings survey but never caught the company’s name because the woman, Helen or whatever, never mentioned it! She wanted to find out how much my bills were and offered two free property surveys. After all her rambling, she asked if I was the homeowner. I said no (bit fibbing there), and then she just said she’d have her office check things out. Quite confusing really.

I told her I live in council flats, so there's no way I could have any work done. I also mentioned I’m on the TPS register because I don’t want these kind of calls in the first place. She was quite courteous and even thanked me for answering. Still, if someone’s signed up to TPS, they really shouldn’t be ringing at all.
