Got a call from someone saying they were David Cooper from HMRC. Just like others have said, they told me I owed £5,000 because of some 'miscalculations' and that the police were heading to my registered address to deliver a summons. Claimed all the info was being sent to the courts by 11am. Honestly, it was pretty frightening and sounded convincing. The caller had an Indian accent and if you’ve ever dealt with HMRC for real, this guy’s tone and way of speaking was spot on. Make sure to warn all your accountant mates so they can alert their clients about this scam.
