I got a call from a young guy, probably in his twenties, sounds white and well spoken, pretending to be from the HSBC fraud team. He never said his name but called me by my proper name, Mrs ..., which means he already had some info about me and my bank. I’ve jotted down what happened and I hung up after he bizarrely asked if I wanted to “...suck his big, black…”. I reckon this bloke might actually be working for HSBC and that number could be his personal landline, since it’s linked to rented digs.

Yeah, this number really belongs to an agent from IW, they’re legit and are based in Mumbai, not some random third party. I suppose when you accept T & C’s, you should double check whether to opt in or out of marketing calls. I just didn’t bother back then. Seems like a safe number to me.

Not just sharing phone numbers, Ideal World is also handing out payment info. My card got charged right away for a subscription I never signed up for or wanted. The charge showed up under Ideal World / Create and Craft on official letterhead. Supercard has now blocked emails from [email protected][###], which Microsoft flagged when I tried to cancel.

I've sent Ideal World an email asking if that call was actually from them. If it was, why bother calling only to hang up straight away, especially when I clearly asked to be contacted via email only. Got a call from someone claiming to be from Ideal World, they were pushing some magazine on me. I told them I wasn’t keen and wouldn’t be paying for anything, but they just didn’t take the hint. Later on, my bank called me to say they’d attempted to take money from my account - really frustrating!
