A man rang saying he was from the Telephone Preference Service and wanted to upgrade my line to cover international calls. He clearly knew my name, address, and phone number. He even mentioned that I pay my phone bill by direct debit and gave the last four digits of my bank card along with the expiry date. He asked if I had got a new card yet, as the old one was about to expire. When I asked why he needed that info for what he claimed was a free service, he said it was just a security measure to make sure he was talking to the right person. I ended the call right after that.

This caller was pretty insistent, but I didn’t even give them a chance to explain who they were. We’re on the TPS list and know exactly who has permission to contact us, so any unexpected calls like this are obviously dodgy. Thanks to everyone else for flagging these numbers. Just a reminder, the TPS won’t ring you up, there’s no need to “renew” your registration, and it definitely doesn’t “expire” like these scammers try to claim. Total rubbish!

Sorry for shouting but BE WARNED about these scammers trying to steal from you. My grandma kept getting calls from this number, and it was driving her mad. We've had to block it on both her home phone and her mobile now. These folks are sneaky and nasty, using online tech to fake real phone numbers so you can't block them properly. Please, don’t answer and block these pests whenever you can!

I got a call from some Indian "call centre" claiming to be from the TPS trying to block spam calls for me. I told him everything was already blocked and the only call that needed blocking was his. I said, STOP RINGING NOW! Instead, he said he’d keep ringing me and then just cut the line. So annoying!

Earlier today, precisely at 11:25 am on the 6th of October 2021, I had a rather concerning phone call from this number. An Asian sounding woman claimed to be representing Virgin Media, warning me that my computer was under threat of being hacked and urging me to sit down at my device immediately. Naturally, I grew suspicious, asked her a few probing questions, and eventually chose to hang up. To my surprise, they rang me again shortly thereafter, but I decided not to pick up that time.
