Got a call saying I was going to be taken to court over some dodgy tax returns. They mentioned they'd call back, probably just to push for some money. What's odd is that when they call from any number apart from their usual mobile, it just rings once and then cuts off, like whoever’s holding it isn’t sure whether to put me through or hang up. Seems a bit fishy to me.

I double-checked by ringing HMRC on the official number from their website, and they said they never make calls like that. Seems loads of folks get caught out, especially if they’re waiting on a refund. Best just block and ignore this number.
