While using my laptop, a warning popped up saying it was infected with a virus and told me to call this number. The person on the other end said they were from Microsoft and wanted to connect to my computer to show the issues they found. After a while, they said there’d be a fee to fix the problems, which made me hang up and shut my laptop straight away. I nearly got caught out by this, so be careful and don’t let it happen to you.

Got a message pop up sayin my laptop had a virus and to ring Microsoft immediately. They gave me some code to let them control my computer. I was on the phone to them for close to an hour. Then they asked for £148.98 to fix the problem, saying it had to be paid straight away. I told them I needed to check with my partner and then ended the call. Seriously, don’t get caught out by this scam!
