Rang me on two occasions, claiming to be from Butler & Young. He seemed to have quite the insight into my investment activities and proposed a tempting deal - promised a 4% return if I chucked in £5,000. Naturally, I did a bit of digging and discovered that his number was linked to a firm called Belmont, which is on the FCA's naughty list for dodgy dealings. When he called me for the second time, I let him know I'd done my homework and wasn’t interested in pursuing the matter further. He then insisted that they'd only just acquired that phone number and weren’t connected to the previous firm… Oh, really now?

This caller was quite courteous but had an uncanny familiarity with my investment portfolio. They've reached out a couple of times recently, and today I firmly expressed my disinterest in continuing the conversation. They were peddling information about a new bond offer. After doing some digging, I've decided to block this number immediately.

Can't say much, except this number just keeps on ringing with annoying calls.

this guy john keating has rang me four times in less than a fortnight, claiming he’s from smith kline and wanted to chat about lloyds bank’s yearly report. he somehow knew my address, but as soon as i asked for his company details and address, he just ended the call. i’d seriously advise anyone not to share any info with this company - seems like they’ve got their hands on loads of shareholder info.

just to add, someone named Mike Smith claimed to be from Campbell Browne. If that rings a bell, watch out cause it's definitely a scam.

Was Spencer Goldsmith's accent Northern Irish by any chance?

Spencer Goldsmith called me asking for my husband, who sadly passed away a year and a half ago. Apparently, he found my husband's details through his work pension. Everything sounded really convincing at first. When I tried to mention it might be a con, he insisted it wasn’t, saying calls aren’t usually recorded. I was naive and ended up handing over £5000. So far, I’ve had no response to my calls or emails and haven't received anything in return. Just a heads up, this is a definite scam.

my mum had a call from someone called Spencer Goldsmith not long ago. after that, we received a letter from Blake Stone, supposedly located in Geneva. during the call, goldsmith kept going on about how fast he could move money into their account which made me suspicious straight away. honestly, i'd steer clear of these lot.

I’m pretty sure this is a scam, not happy at all.

Spencer Goldsmith from Belmont Group (their website: belweadvisory[###]) kept calling me about a 6% yield bond from Blake Stone Bond Fund, which is apparently based in Switzerland. He claimed he had my info through AstraZeneca shareholding. Thing is, the person connected to AstraZeneca pension passed away a decade ago. I looked them up and both Belmont Group and Blake Stone are real companies. They sent me an application form but didn’t include any proper details or a key facts sheet. When I tried to ring back, the number just didn’t have a dial tone.

I got a call regarding Astra Zeneca shares, and they kept going on about how shareholders should expect some positive news. Then, on 10th November 2016, the same person rang me back saying I could put in 5,10 or 15 grand into this Blakeston property bond offering a 6% return. When I said I'd want to check with my financial advisor first, they started badmouthing her, which wasn't very professional. They also suggested I could free up cash from my ISAs. When I didn't agree straight away, they just ended the call abruptly.

I’ve come across Belmont Wealth, who are presenting themselves as a financial investment manager, but I have serious suspicions they're up to no good. They seem to have acquired my personal information from the AstraZeneca shareholder register, and they’re purporting to assist those of us who intend to hang onto our shares for the long haul. It feels rather dodgy, to be honest.

For several weeks now, this number has been incessantly buzzing my phone, ringing as often as three times in a week. Eventually, I inadvertently picked up the call. A chap named Michael Appleton introduced himself as being from the Belmont Group and proposed sending me details about a bond. He also mentioned some shares that I possess, which is rather unsettling, to say the least. However, I’ve been unable to find any trace of either this company or the individual online. It feels rather dodgy - I’d advise caution!

Got a call from someone saying it was about AstraZeneca shares. They wanted to speak to someone who's been dead for years. Looks like they're using a really outdated list of contacts.

What a vile creature attempted to contact my mother! Had I bothered to pick up, I can assure you they wouldn’t have dared to call again. It seems there’s an endless parade of these unscrupulous swindlers looking to fleece us. I sincerely hope they and their wretched families face dire consequences for their actions!
