When I called, the individual on the line sounded incredibly convincing, asserting they were part of Microsoft’s support team. They took control of my computer and even showcased supposed virus files. To my disbelief, they then claimed that Microsoft wouldn’t rectify this issue for free and insisted I purchase a year-long subscription for a silver support package at £165! Up to that point, everything seemed legitimate. However, after I rang Microsoft directly at 0344 800 2400 (a number from their official site), it became clear I had stumbled into a scam.
