Got a call from this number earlier, trying to push a LIFE LINE policy for me and my missus. When we said we weren’t interested, they kept insisting on a reason. My partner asked about the price, they said over a hundred quid, but you could pay like fifty now. We know these scams pretty well - they just want to snag your details by getting you to pay that smaller amount, so they can nick money from your card later. Same number also rings about insurance claims and call blockers - watch out, it’s definitely dodgy stuff.

Got a call this arvo from someone named 'Danny' who never once said which company he was calling from. Seemed like he was trying to make it sound like it was my own phone provider on the line. When he dropped a comment about a charge, alarm bells rang. Then he pushed to set up a direct debit, and I just ended the call. I never hand out my bank or card details over the phone. Heads up! Don't think your bank can always block dodgy debits either. My bank wouldn’t put a stop on payments my elderly mum’s been making to a well-known charity lottery, saying it was between her and the charity alone. Even though the lottery ignored our requests to stop taking money. Eventually, I had to threaten legal action just to get them to quit taking my mum’s cash. Watch out!

Got a call asking for some Mr ???, who’s never even lived here. We keep getting these annoying cold calls for him. This number rang me at 11:10 today, asking for my wife. When I asked who was on the line, the woman launched into a spiel about unwanted calls. I told her she was just a telemarketer charging people to block telemarketers. She insisted she doesn't offer anything for free. I repeated that she was just a cold caller wanting money to stop cold calls. She got annoyed, told me to believe what I wanted, and then hung up.

I told her straight up she was just a cold caller trying to make money by offering to stop cold calls. She snapped back saying she doesn’t provide any free service. I repeated that she’s just charging people to stop cold calls. Then she got quite annoyed, said believe what you like, and hung up on me.

Had a call similar to what’s been mentioned, trying to persuade me to subscribe for £1.39 a month to stop nuisance calls. They insisted everything was legit and said they’d post me all their company info and that I’d get a 14 day cancellation period. I told them no thanks, I want to look into your business first before signing up. They were alright about it, but I’m still not handing over my card details. Honestly, all I’m asking for this Christmas is a decent call blocker.

I asked why they weren’t on the TPS list. They said “TPS is useless and we do call blocking for annoying calls.” I told them THEY were the annoying call and hung up. Felt good to put them in their place! Total scam.

Today I got a ring from this number and the person was going on about nuisance calls. At first, I thought it might be someone from the TPS, you know, the official list. But then they asked me which credit card I'd like to use for a monthly fee of around £1.75 or maybe £1.95, can’t quite recall. They even claimed that TPS isn't free anymore. That’s when I told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call.

Got a call on my phone earlier, this bloke says he can stop annoying calls on my landline. I told him I don't really get those on my landline, he insisted that I must. I replied I only get rubbish calls like this on my mobile. Then he just said “Alright then, have a good one - you miserable old cow!” Honestly, I found it quite amusing!

Got a call on my BT8610 Call Blocker, which I picked up for under £80. Caller probably wouldn’t say their name, so I just blocked them straight away. They’re banned for good now! Another nuisance sorted!

Some woman named 'Jade' rang my dad who’s getting on a bit, saying he owed her £89 to stop bothersome calls. Sadly, he gave her his card info and £89 got taken straight from his bank. He wrote down the number she called from, but when I tried ringing it to sort it out, I was just left on hold and never spoke to anyone. Dad’s been on the TPS list ages, so I’m really puzzled how they even got hold of his number and name in the first place.

Somebody named "Shannon" phoned my 90-year-old dad who has dementia - he's on the TPS list - and tried to trick him out of his bank info. Luckily, his carer got there in time and ended the call. I reported it to the ICO, but as usual, nothing seems to come of it!

He said he could put an end to the annoying calls but asked for my bank details to take a monthly direct debit of £1.98. I can’t help but think if I’d handed over my details, things would’ve turned bad. He got quite defensive when I asked who exactly he was. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.

i might be wrong about the bloke, but it all felt a bit iffy, he said he was going to add us to some list to block annoying calls, knew my name which caught me off guard. asked if we’ve been getting loads of spam calls and i said yeah, then he brought up that database thing, i just thought it was a scam and ended the call!
