Total rip-off. The call began with a recorded message claiming my account was about to be charged £79.99 for an Amazon Prime subscription, and if I wanted to talk to someone, press #1. I pressed it, and this bloke with an Asian accent came on and asked what my problem was. I told him I’d signed up for the free trial of Amazon Prime for a month, so if Amazon were now charging £79.99 or trying to force me into a yearly plan, I wasn’t having any of it. Then he said he thought my computer or Amazon account might have been hacked and asked if I was ringing from Mountain Ash, California.

They then said they’d put me through to a senior person, who rang back from 07340818506 - turns out that number is flagged as a scam. Just a heads up, be really careful with these fraudsters. Amazon never calls customers about renewals, everything’s handled online.

Had a right laugh chatting with 'Microsoft from Reading, or should I say India' today. Apparently my Microsoft PC’s been hacked - who knew - and now I’m apparently involved in some dodgy online stuff like porn, betting and scams. Lovely.
