I was waiting for an Amazon delivery that had some alcohol in it, but I wasn’t home when they arrived. The driver couldn’t just leave the parcel in a safe spot. At that moment, my Ring doorbell rang and then my landline showed a call from this number. When I rang it back, it turned out to be Amazon. I guess they were trying to let me know the driver couldn't drop off the package without someone over 18 being there to accept it because of their alcohol rules.

Got a call just now claiming to be from Nationwide Building Society about PPI. My brother-in-law used to be a manager there and he told me Nationwide never offered PPI. Just a heads up to watch out for this.

Just got a call from this number right after I finished a chat with Nationwide Building Society. It said it was from them on my caller ID, but I didnt pick up since I was outside the UK and didnt have enough credit on my pay-as-you-go to take calls abroad. It says Barclays on the caller ID but you can't ring that number back. I think that number is just a forwarding line used by loads of firms. Pretty sure it gets passed through Amazon’s business setup or something. If you want to get in touch, you’ve got to phone their 0800 number instead.

They insisted on transferring me to their security team. However, when I rang Barclays myself to verify, I discovered that no one from their end had reached out to me at all. Quite dodgy, I must say!

So this caller had my first name and my workplace name and said they were from Barclays Bank. They tried to get me to do some sort of security check before explaining the “problem”. I told them I’d get in touch with my account manager instead. And unsurprisingly, when I actually spoke to Barclays, there was nothing wrong at all.

I asked her to say my first name to prove who she was, but she wouldn’t answer and insisted on some “security check.” I asked a couple more questions but wasn’t convinced. I let her know I’d just get in touch with Barclays directly through my banking app instead.
