I received a rather dubious phone call from a call centre attempting to dupe elderly folks regarding their tax affairs. They were particularly keen to chat with my grandma about her taxes! Their English was quite poor, making it very clear it was a scam. If you happen to receive a call from them, I suggest you inform them that you'll be reporting their activities to the authorities. Best to stay safe!

this number keeps ringing me up, saying it's from the american consulate and that there’s some issues with my visa. honestly, if it was really the consulate, i’m sure they’d reach out through official emails or letters, not just phone calls like this. feels a bit dodgy to me.

Total con. Got a recorded voicemail saying it was from HMRC, warning me to ring them back the same day or I’d face arrest and legal trouble. When I rang the number back, they wanted loads of info, including my birthday and stuff - probably just trying to steal personal details. I reckon next step would have been trying to get money off me. Don’t be daft, HMRC already know your DOB! Best to just ignore and not ring them back.
