020 8013 0302 rang me on my mobile and started off by saying I’d caused a car accident. I asked her twice what the registration number was, but she just hung up on me. Proper cheek, police really ought to crack down on this. My gran could easily fall for this stuff!

Like a lot of other people here, they knew my name and claimed I’d been involved in an accident. I asked when it supposedly happened and he said anytime in the last 36 months - pretty vague if you ask me. I told him it wasn’t true and he just hung up. A few days later, I got another call from a similar number asking the exact same thing. Now I’ve got loads of missed calls from this number and loads of others that are just slightly different. I just block them all as soon as they come through.

Just like the last time, I first spoke with someone who had a European accent, then got handed over to a ‘manager’ who could explain things better. I asked for a number to call back 'cause I was at work. The manager said his name was Luke and when I asked for a contact number, he told me to hang on for 20 seconds so he could grab a direct line. Suspicious, right? Anyway, the number he gave me was 01903900341. Luke said once I confirmed everything, they’d pass it onto the insurance company and the payment would take around 12 to 14 weeks to go through.

Caller claimed to be from the AA and brought up a car bump I'd actually had. They kept going on about files and some kind of compensation that I knew I wasn’t entitled to. Then they asked me to have a chat with their manager! I told them I wasn’t going to talk about anything over the phone and that if they wanted to be taken seriously, they needed to send me a letter on official paper. Obviously, it’s a scam. They even said I don’t have to be driving to cause a road accident and started swearing at me. I was tempted to argue but figured that’d just mean more annoying calls and insults. Got a call from Amg solicitors about a road accident. I told them I wasn't the driver, don’t own a car or a licence, then just hung up. They phoned me back four times. When I picked up again, they said I might have been a passenger and then actually called me a thick idiot. What would you even do if they actually had a case against you?
