A few weeks back, I got a call from this number, and the voice sounded like it was from the Indian Sub-Continent. The man was asking for my husband. When I told him he’d passed away, he said, "So you’re Mrs K, I want..." but I quickly interrupted and told him not to call me again, then hung up. Since that day, I keep getting silent calls from this number every single day. It feels like they’re deliberately trying to annoy or harass me.

I donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust but stopped a few months back. Then I kept getting missed calls from this number, so I finally picked up and found out it was some company that gets PAID to drum up donations for charities. I told them to stop, then rang 03330 110023 to have my number taken off their list. The recorded message said it would take a day to sort. We’ll see if that actually happens.

After a quick search, I found out they're not the usual street fundraisers but more like office-based 'chuggers'. Normally, it’s the ones you bump into in town centres asking for donations. The message thanked me for calling back and mentioned they represent a few different charities, so I guess they work on a freelance basis. They said they’d get back to me within 24 hours unless I called 03330110023 and followed the directions given. Doing that would put me on their opt-out list so they wouldn’t call me again. Now I’m just curious to see if this de-registration will keep me clear of all those chugging firms or just Listen UK.

It’s a charity, I think. I got this recorded message with a number to ring if you want to be removed from their call list. Just before Christmas, I kept getting messages like “text this number to give £x for homeless support/ African water projects/ meals for elderly people” or similar stuff. I reckon my number’s been handed over to another charity. If that’s the case, I really wish they hadn’t done that. I want to give when I feel like it, not be harassed with cold calls.
