Received a call at 9:48 in the morning on the second of October from Perth, Western Australia. Quite concerning, to say the least.

I was approached by a scammer from the Philippines insisting I hand over £2,000 in advance for some ridiculous investigation. Stay clear of this one!

I got a call from someone asking me to pay £2000 up front to look into a blackmail situation I’m supposedly involved in. Afterwards, I received an email from a guy named Issac Scott, which I’m sharing here. He started by saying thanks for getting in touch with TechForing Ltd and expressed sympathy for what I’m going through. Apparently, these blackmailers often use fake identities and tools to threaten people. He warned that if they have sensitive pics or info, they might share it with contacts or use it for cybercrime on the web and dark web, even posting stuff on suspicious sites. Apparently, those who pay the blackmailers keep dealing with ongoing threats since that’s their business model. Issac explained they’d put together a team of cyber experts, investigators, and hackers to work on my case, though he said even law enforcement often can’t catch these criminals. Their aim would be to: 1) Find the blackmailer in 24 hours to a week using IPs, locations, devices, and other digital clues. 2) Make the criminal remove all the sensitive stuff from everywhere online and offline. 3) Check open source info across the web and dark web for any breaches. 4) Work with police where the blackmailer might be. He said this would end the nightmare and urged me to pay £2,000 minimum before they start. But if funds are tight, there’s a payment plan: £1,000 now and £1,000 within 3-10 days. Before paying, they need my full name and address to draw up an NDA, which covers investigation details, fees, and privacy policies. Once I sign and return it electronically, they’ll send back a signed copy plus an invoice with bank info for payment. He assured everything stays confidential and that the agreement prevents any misunderstandings. Issac stressed urgency, saying the moment I pay, the probe starts immediately and they can involve my legal reps if needed. He emphasised they’re a private cybercrime investigation firm based in London with no government funding - so expenses have to be paid first before any work begins. Otherwise, they can chat over phone or video call to understand my situation better, and he asked me to suggest suitable times between 7am and 3pm UK time. He included links to their company website, CEO info, and UK business registration (number 12629155) to verify them. Plus, mentioned accolades like features in Forbes, The Business Standard, and others, highlighting their 14 years of experience, hundreds of clients worldwide, and connections with big organisations like IBM and the FBI. If anyone else encounters this, be careful - the whole thing sounds like a classic scam to me. But if you want to check out the emails or links, just let me know!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Techforing, but when I tried Googling the company, nothing showed up. Pretty sure it was just spam.
