Had a call from someone claiming my washing machine insurance had run out, sounded like a dodgy scam to me. They wanted my bank card info to renew it but I just hung up. Don’t fall for it!

Like many have said, this is definitely a scam. Best not to pick up the phone.

For the last week, this number keeps ringing me daily. Since it always shows up as an unknown caller, I just let it roll to my voicemail, but they never bother leaving any message.

A guy called me saying my washing machine's insurance was running out soon. I told him my machine is super old, like 20 years plus, and I don't have any insurance since I fix it myself. After that, he just hung up on me. Seems like he was trying to get me to pay for some insurance that doesn’t even exist.

They just stayed quiet and then ended the call.

Got a call from some scammers pushing this so-called “washing machine insurance renewal.” Don’t be fooled, they just wanna swipe money from your bank if you bite. Watch out!

Right at the start, he goes straight asking if he can speak to my missus, without even saying who he is. I told him it’s Mr E here, and wouldn’t you know it, he just cut the call dead! Proper dodgy if you ask me.

I got a call about insurance for my washing machine and they wanted my payment info right away, even before sending any paperwork through. When I asked about the make of the washing machine, the person just dropped the call.

Got a call earlier from some guy named Danny, claiming to be from ATC about renewing insurance on a washing machine we definitely don’t own. Once I told him we don't actually have one, he just cut the call straight away. Bit creepy how he already knew our names and address though!

Someone called saying they’d come to fix my washing machine cover or something, but when I said I never had one, they just hung up straightaway - bit strange really.

I got a call from some bloke who said my washing machine warranty was about to run out and tried to sell me a new plan. As soon as I called him out, he just hung up on me. Complete scam, watch out!

Had a call from a bloke who said his name was Albert. He told me my washing machine insurance was about to run out. Thing is, my washer’s pretty old and hasn’t been covered for ages. When I began to explain that, he just cut me off and ended the call.

Got a call from someone who knew both my address and name, sounded like they were a local from London, proper cockney style, no funny accent. They claimed it was about insurance for my washing machine. When I asked “what washing machine insurance?” they just hung up straight away. Looking back, wish I’d kept the convo going to figure out exactly what kind of scam was behind it.

Just like everyone else, this bloke had my name and even my house name. He called saying my washing machine insurance was about to run out and tried to sell me a new one - but I told him I never took out any insurance for a washing machine. He rang off. When I checked the number on 1471, it said “to return”, but it’s not showing up anywhere else. Bit strange, innit? How come the phone company can’t even tell who owns one of their own lines? Seems dodgy to me.

I think it was a scam call. Someone rang me saying I needed to renew my insurance on the washing machine, offering a 'better' deal. Sounded pretty legit at first, but then they asked for my card expiry date, and I remembered we pay our washing machine insurance monthly anyway. When I asked for his number and something to contact him back, he said he’d check with his manager but then just hung up. Felt really fishy to me.
