Out of the blue, my computer came to a complete standstill while I was attempting to visit ... feelgoodtobeheard ... which I got from a Homebase counter. An alert popped up on my screen stating, "Access to this PC has been restricted for security purposes... Please contact Microsoft Support: 02038297023 (UK Toll Free)." Naturally, I rang the number, and a chap picked up. Instinctively, I began to question whether this was genuinely Microsoft Support. I informed him that I'd prefer to verify through the official Microsoft website first. He was quite persistent in trying to engage me further. Eventually, I decided to cut the call short.

I got this rather robotic message from a woman claiming to represent Customs and Revenue, insisting that I should ring them back or provide my number to my solicitor, warning of dire legal repercussions if I didn’t comply. Honestly, it struck me as highly dubious; I can’t imagine Customs would reach out in such a strange way. Yet, I can see how others might panic and feel compelled to respond. - caller: 020 3892 7023
