So annoying! Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be Dennis Grey, threatening legal action if I didn’t ring back. The message finished with 'take care', which felt a bit fake. They also left their number on the voicemail, telling you to call back yourself or have your solicitor get in touch. Using the word ‘Solicitor’ like that is just playing on people’s fears to trick them. Really nasty stuff! Hope no one vulnerable falls for it. Please spread the word!

I just got a call from this number and they left a voicemail warning me to get in touch with inland revenue or else there’d be serious trouble! It’s really scary how believable it sounds, like they actually have your info. I reckon HMRC must've had some kind of leak, otherwise how do these scammers know so much? So, my receptionist got this message left on our office answerphone and she was really shaken up. It was obviously a scam - HMRC definitely don’t contact you like that. The threatening talk about "consequences" then finishing with "take care" was just ridiculous. Someone called Dennis Grey, but it was a woman's voice! Sure, like that’s believable. Sounds like one of those HMRC scams to me. I only got a voicemail from them, no real person on the line. When legit callers ring, they usually get told to buzz off quite clearly. Anyway, I’ve blocked the number and also reported it to the team that handles HMRC phishing scams. Job done.

HMRC would not just ring you up randomly, EVER. They always send a letter first, and if they do need to chat, they’ll ask you to call them on a number they provide directly. Honestly, just hang up and block anyone who calls out of the blue like that - they’re usually just dodgy people trying to pull a fast one.
