Somebody was calling saying they were from Santander, trying to get me to set up a direct debit for a big sum of money to some place called the Human Relief Foundation. Seemed pretty dodgy to me!

I got an email from Dream Smiles Dental in Bolton, but it turned out to be a scam. They somehow managed to set up a direct debit through my Santander account for £380 without my okay. Be careful with them!

Like some others have mentioned, this was a bogus email claiming to be from Santander. I’ve never held an account with them. I’ve reported it now.

Totally, it really comes off like they know what they’re doing. What a load of nonsense! Honestly, I wish them a horrible toothache and no dentist in sight.

There’s been a load of dodgy texts and emails pretending to be from banks going around lately. It’s really important to report them. You can forward any scam emails to "[email protected]" and the National Cyber Security Centre will have a look into it. Also, use the phishing report option (usually the three dots in the top-right) on the email itself to mark the sender as junk across multiple platforms. If you get a fishy text, forward it to 7726 - you can find more details about this on Google.

Really appreciate the quick reply. The email seemed so genuine, I wasn’t sure if it was a scam or not. Honestly, I’m glad I checked with your tool first. It claimed to be from Santander about a new direct debit on my account, warning me to call Santander straight away on 020 3824 6519 if I hadn’t set it up. But instead of ringing them, I decided to look up the number through your site. Thanks again for helping me out.
