02038236850 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02038236850 👆 is reported as a common source of HMRC-related scam calls in the UK. Callers often use automated messages threatening legal action or arrest for unpaid taxes, urging recipients to call back immediately to avoid penalties. Many report vague or inconsistent details, no official identification, and unusual phrases like "have a blessed day," which raise suspicion. Genuine HMRC communications come by letter, not phone calls, and never demand immediate payment via unconventional methods. Users warn not to return calls or provide personal information, as doing so may lead to financial loss or excessive phone charges. The scammers also target vulnerable individuals, including the elderly, using fear tactics. It is advised to ignore such calls and verify directly with official HMRC contact channels if in doubt.

I never answered the call and they didn’t leave any message either. I usually don’t trust any number starting with 020.

I kept humoring the bloke until he told me to pop into any Tesco Superstore and pay for government bonds. When I asked what the bond was called, he said he couldn't tell me that until I actually showed up. What a lazy load of muppets!

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, threatening to arrest me in under an hour for supposed tax evasion. I asked them for my National Insurance number to confirm they were legit, but they refused to give it. What really threw me was that they mentioned an email address supposedly mine, but it was actually the one I only use for adult websites ????‍♂️. Total scam, watch out!

Someone left a voicemail on my answering machine claiming I'd got a lawsuit against me. I just went ahead and deleted it though. I don't reckon HM Customs and Revenue would ever send an automated message like that. Hope everyone has a great day!

Same thing happened to me, got a call saying I was in big trouble with HMRC and if I didn’t ring them straight away, I’d be in serious trouble. Just a heads up everyone, HMRC always sends proper letters first before any of this scary stuff. So if you haven’t had a letter, just brush off calls like this - it’s definitely a rip-off. Anyway, hope everyone has a good day, if they really meant it! Bit suspicious though.

Honestly, if you fall for this, then you’ll believe just about anything. Real companies send letters, not calls saying you’re in major trouble. No one from here just rings up like that.

Like others have said before, feels sorry for anyone daft enough to call them back.

Had a call on Wednesday afternoon from a robotic voice claiming to be from HMRC. It said I was involved in a “serious lawsuit” and warned that if I didn’t ring back on their number, I’d be stuck with all the legal fees and penalties. Anyone less skeptical than me might’ve actually panicked. Obviously, I wasn’t about to call them back. I know that legal issues are always handled by letter, not phone calls. The robotic voice signing off with “have a blessed day” really made me chuckle though!

Got a robocall basically threatening me with legal action, then it made me dial a number before cutting me off. Proper nasty b******, honestly.

Got one of those automated calls too, just like lots of others. It’s easy for people to fall for it, and if you ring back, you’re probably just handing over your cash and filling their pockets.

Got a robo call from a woman claiming I owed a big sum to the tax office. She warned me if I didn’t call the number back, I’d be hit with massive legal fees. Quite scary, but felt off.

About 40 mins ago, I got a message saying something about a ‘lawsuit against me.’ Not sure that’s even legal jargon, sounds off to me like some others have mentioned. Ended with ‘have a blessed day’ which doesn't sound like HMRC at all. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I got a call from someone threatening to arrest me for unpaid taxes. They said I'd face court unless I sorted it out quick and suggested I find a decent criminal lawyer. Definitely a dodgy scam, don't fall for it!

Got a robo call from a woman saying I supposedly owe loads to the Inland Revenue. She warned if I didn’t call back on their number, I’d face heavy legal fees. Total scam, I reckon.

Got a call from 02038236850 at 12.46 today, spouting the same kind of threats - definitely another scammer. They really deserve a good long jail term, like 20 years or more. Seriously, Ofcom should be able to trace these muppets to their exact location and take proper action against them. Enough is enough!

I got a scary voicemail from someone calling themselves 'Officer Lisa Williams' from HMRC. They were threatening and it really freaked me out. I bet older folks or anyone vulnerable could be really upset by this. Definitely don’t call back or reply to messages like that.

Got a call today from someone saying they're Lisa Williams from HMRC, claiming I was in big trouble. Total rubbish, just a recorded message that’s clearly a scam. HMRC always sends letters, never calls like this. Don’t bother replying. If you do happen to get a proper person on the line, just tell them to jog on.

Got a message today from some woman with no name, threatening to take me to court. She told me to ring back on 2038236850 or else I'd face serious trouble. Since I'm aware of these kinda scams, I didn't bother calling them back, especially 'cause you end up with crazy phone charges. These scammers are proper rotten and need to be stopped. It’s awful 'cos lots of older folks will be freaked out by this, which I guess is exactly what the caller wants.

Got a call like this not long ago, had me really scared. The guy said I’d end up in jail if I didn’t cough up almost £4000 straight away. He even started reading some sort of affidavit or something. He told me to ring him back after I went to the bank. Then he said something about not using his phone minutes, which made me suspicious. I’m glad I didn’t just hang up or believe him straight away!

Got a weird recorded message at my store saying the same stuff. I went ahead and rang the number, which was dumb, and some bloke said he was from HMRC and an officer looking into my taxes and alleged evasion. I ended the call real quick and told him off, reckoned it was a total scam. These people really ought to be reported, they just cause a lot of worry and stress for no reason.

So today this number called my 84 year old neighbour and really scared her by saying she owed taxes or something. She tried to call back to check if it was true, thank goodness she didn’t give any of her bank info. Now I’m worried she might get hit with big phone charges from calling them. Then about five minutes later I got the exact same robo call. Weird!

I just listened to a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC saying something about a court case. The number they left didn’t start with a zero. If I’d been more flustered or confused I might have rang back, but luckily I’ve got nothing to hide with HM Revenue & Customs.
