This number has been ringing me non-stop, so I’ve blocked it since my phone flagged it as a possible scam.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the UK Government doing a survey about the SMI loan. I told them I was tied up and asked them to ring back tomorrow. That was the last time I'll be picking up that number, no way I'm answering it again.

This number keeps ringing me non stop all day long and I never even pick up, I’m so fed up with it!

Got a call twice where they used my name, said it was a survey from the DWP. Felt dodgy, like they were fishing for my NI number or other personal details, so I’ve flagged it as unsafe.

I got a call where the person knew my name and said they were from a government agency about heating support or something, and claimed it wasn’t a sales pitch. Didn’t trust it, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call earlier saying they were from the DWP about SMI. I told them I was tied up because something felt off, plus my phone flagged the number as spam. They said they'd try again next week, but I'm definitely going to block it. Last week I had a similar call starting with 02038, and that was also marked as spam, so I blocked that too. The DWP don't normally ring like this, so it's worrying that someone less careful might fall for a scam!

Some bloke rang me saying he was from a government agency but wouldn’t say which one. He mentioned I’d find out once I started answering his questions. I told him I was too busy to deal with it. These days, loads of dodgy calls come from 02038 numbers - it’s proper annoying.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was ringing for a Dept of Work and Pensions survey, asking about my mortgage interest support experience. I told her I never take survey calls unless I’ve arranged them in advance. Feels like this scam is aimed at really vulnerable folks. Loads of people might end up sharing personal stuff like NI numbers or bank details thinking it’s legit DWP. This kind of thing’s got to be stopped. Please share on Facebook or wherever to warn others. Cheers.

This number 020 3817 9716 called me around 8.50pm. I just ignored it. I saw some other reviews saying it’s the DWP about SML stuff. I do have an SML claim but usually I deal with the DWP online. Also, the SML team isn’t in London, they’re actually in Blackpool now. I remember before it was handled in Wolverhampton and Birkenhead, not London at all. If this was some kind of DWP survey, they should really think twice about calling so late in the evening. Honestly though, I don’t think it’s legit. Planning to get in touch with the DWP myself tomorrow to check.

I got a call about some DWP SMI loans. I told the person I wasn’t sure and needed to verify who they really were. She gave me an email to look up: [email protected]. I’m thinking of ringing the DWP directly to make sure these callers are legit before proceeding.

Got a call from a London number, but the bloke had a thick Irish accent and never said who he was. As soon as I told him my phone flagged his number as suspicious, he just ended the call.

Just got a call from a bloke saying he was doing a council survey for Reading, but now he’s phoning again pretending he works for the DWP. He even mentioned my name and showed me a website for his “company.” Doesn't sit right with me at all, feels like a bit of a con! 🐀

They said they were calling from the Department of Education and talked about doing some sort of phone interview.

They kept insisting on getting info we just couldn’t provide and wouldn’t hear that they had to try a different department. Won’t take no for an answer at all.

Got a call from the same number again. Last time they said they were with the Scottish Government, and now they've switched to pretending they’re from the Department of Education. Not sure if it’s legit at all, so I just put them on hold and I’m waiting for them to give up and hang up.

Got a call about a survey for the Scottish Government, but it was some English firm running it? Bit odd, don’t you think they could’ve used a Scottish company instead? Feels a bit off to me.

Received a call about a skills training survey, said it was for the Welsh Government. Seemed legit enough but not 100% sure what it was about. Thought I’d mention it here in case anyone else got it.

This sounded like one of those dodgy calls pretending to be from some government agency. They asked to talk to the manager but never said why, then just hung up on me. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Someone rang me pretending to be from the Scottish Government, saying they needed to do a survey about yearly recruitment. I just left them waiting on the line until they gave up and ended the call. These days you really can't tell if a call is legit or just a scam, so best not to take any risks.

Got one of those calls claiming to be from some UK government department or other. It’s a bit odd how these companies never just say who they actually are straight away. When I told them I don’t deal with stuff like this anymore - especially since most calls from 02038 numbers turn out to be either time-wasters or scams - the person on the line didn’t just hang up. Instead, they got all defensive and rude, trying to be sarcastic and clever. Makes you wonder how much public money is being thrown at these firms that clearly don't know how to treat ordinary people with any respect.

Got a call from some bloke named Jason about a survey from the Department for Education, Skills and Training. He seemed pretty friendly and the call felt legit. Just a heads up though, if you say yes to it, you’ll need to set aside about half an hour for the questions.
