Got calls from a phoney energy firm, they were using all sorts of tricks like offering refunds and rebates just to swipe your card info. Proper scam.

This number called me a couple of times, and surprisingly, on the second call, I actually spent a couple of minutes listening (guess I was feeling decent). Turns out, they were pretty useful and ended up recovering £7,400 for me from PPI claims I hadn't a clue about. I get it, most of these random calls are just annoying, but every now and then, there's a gem worth giving a bit of your time to.

Honestly, I really wish this company could be shut down. I’m in a wheelchair and registered with the TPS, plus I use a call blocker, but their number still manages to ring through at least a few times before the blocker steps in - by then I’ve already had to pick up. It baffles me how the regulators can be so slack about cracking down on folks like these. This constant nuisance has seriously made things so much harder for me.

Some bloke said he was calling from the "Claims Department." I asked which claims department he meant, but he just dodged the question. So, I just ended the call.

They said they were from a PPI claims company. The first thing they did was ask for the number on the back of my credit card to "confirm my identity" (bit odd if you ask me). Seems like a sneaky way to get you to grab your wallet and have your card ready, so when they later ask for the full card number, expiry date and security code, you might just give it without thinking. I wasn’t having any of it and told the guy, who said his name was "John Evans", to share his credit card info with me then! Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t keen. I just said I’d ring back later and ended the call.

I got a call from someone claiming they could help with my PPI claim. The bloke said his name was Ashleigh Davis and that he was from Synergie. They asked for loads of info, including my credit card number. I was daft enough to give it to them, but when I wouldn't share the three digit security code, the guy started being really rude and aggressive. I rang my bank immediately and had the card blocked.

Today I got a call from someone claiming to be from HES on behalf of Welsh Water. They said Welsh Water supposedly owes us about £890, possibly even more, and asked when an inspector could come by. But when I asked for their details and more info, they just ended the call out of nowhere!!!

I got a call earlier today from a bloke with a Welsh accent. He claimed I’d completed an electricity switching survey, which is funny because I actually did just fill one out. When I asked who he was, he said he was from the government, which I found a bit odd. He then told me I’d already been paid £12 by the government and that another £12 would be coming soon. After chatting for around five minutes, I had to stop him because the “saving” he was talking about worked out to just 4p a month - and that was to switch to a company I’ve never heard of. He went on to say that some people only saved 1p a year! Tried to make his point that the money was better in my bank than the energy provider’s, but I kept repeating “4p a month!” before he abruptly hung up.

Got a call from a lady with a strong south west Wales accent claiming she was from HES and that I was paying too much for ground water drainage on my water bill. She asked if I was on a state or private pension, and when I said private - though I’m not actually a pensioner - she told me I wasn’t eligible for a refund but they could send someone to do a survey. When I asked who exactly HES were, she got quite evasive. Then, after questioning the supposed ground water fees, she just hung up on me. She did say she was calling from Swansea and kept insisting she was with HES, but I reckon it’s just one of those dodgy call centres based there.

Got a really nasty bloke on the phone earlier, claiming I’d just done a survey where I asked them to get in touch (which I definitely didn’t). He was banging on about cheaper gas and electric bills.
