So, my computer screen suddenly showed this warning about "technical issues" and said my Facebook, pictures, and card info were in danger. They even flashed some weird blue error screen stuff. The thing that freaked me out was them mentioning I was with Talk Talk - had me thinking it was legit. Luckily, I looked up the number first and found these posts. Best thing is just to close the warning and don't answer - the number was 02038155194.

Is there any way to be certain this is a scam? Usually, if the caller doesn’t give their name or say what company they're from, it’s pretty obvious. How can we get these people to stop trying to scam everyone?

Just had a popup come up saying it was Sky warning me about some sort of security issue. It told me to call an 020 number. I was shocked for a sec but didn’t bother ringing! - caller: popup

A chap pointed me towards a site called www.techdriveinc.com, assuring me it's completely above board.

What can I do to prevent that from appearing?

I gave my PC a quick reboot to fix the issue, but honestly, how come it ended up on some "Max Security" scan out of nowhere?

I just had this show up on my laptop and it made me jump for a sec. Before doing anything, I figured I'd look up the number and then this annoyin' 'WAIT!' message popped up again and again whenever I tried to close it. These con artists are clever, using a fake 'blue screen of death' to freak you out like your laptop's crashed. Good thing I had my windows minimized so it didn't fill the whole screen. Seriously, don't get tricked by this.

Definitely a rip-off! Like someone mentioned earlier, they somehow made my screen freeze with that awful blue error. Can't imagine what mess they'd create if they got into your computer for real. Seriously, why aren't these dodgy operators getting reported to the cops?

Got a call from someone claiming to be a TalkTalk broadband inspector, but the number was 02038155194. Felt off right from the start.

Got a dodgy page pop up on Internet Explorer pretending to be a Blue Screen of Death. The number linked to it was 02038155194. On the fake screen, it showed an IP address 88.106.235.106 which it claimed was from Salisbury, though I reckon it’s all fake. Scammers pulling stunts like this should be caught out big time. - caller: xxx

Absolutely, folks, be cautious of these scams! I encountered a dodgy message popping up on my computer, but I've experienced similar tricks before. I promptly hung up the phone and decided to check it out here instead. Thank goodness I avoided sharing any personal details! Stay vigilant, everyone!

I kept seeing a pop-up on my laptop saying I had to ring this number because my Facebook, photos and credit card info were supposedly in danger. I didn't phone them, thinking it was probably some kind of scam. After looking it up on other sites, loads of people were saying the same thing. It really freaked me out when I first read the alert, but honestly, don’t call that number! - caller: Unknown

Caution advised! These chaps will send shivers down your spine, bleating on about your network being exposed and begging for cash. It's absolutely bewildering - even if you're skint, they'll pressure you to grab a mate's card info. Just steer clear of these dodgy characters. Truly repugnant!

My daughter stumbled upon an online advertisement, and before we knew it, a box marked 'Microsoft' appeared on the screen, warning her about issues with our computer. Naturally, she called the number provided. What followed was an unsettling experience-they accessed our computer remotely and barred her from getting back in. They claimed they were resolving the issues but insisted she needed to pay for some software protection beforehand. It escalated into a heated disagreement over the phone. In hindsight, I really wish I’d just unplugged the Internet from the socket to cut them off much sooner!

Beware of this number, it’s a classic scam. I got a call from someone pretending to be from Microsoft, and it all ties back to a dodgy website and ads you see online. Suddenly you get a popup on your screen saying your PC needs urgent repairs and telling you to ring that number. Once you do, they want to connect remotely to sort out your computer, but really it’s a trick to make you pay for fake antivirus and firewall software. Don’t fall for it, they’re just trying to steal your cash.

Just got a call from 020-3815-5194, but no idea who it was. Anyone knows?

I received a rather unsavoury encounter with what I presume was tech support. They seemed rather keen on having me fork out some cash for a service that was hardly elucidated. To cap it all off, their tone turned quite unpleasant, which left me quite taken aback. Not the best experience, I must say!
