I got a letter claiming to be from FSCS with that phone number on it. Turns out it’s a scam trying to get you to pay to recover money lost when a real firm went bust, which FSCS never even protected. I’ve now been approached three times with the exact same “chance” to get back those losses.

Someone named James rang me claiming to be from FSCS. Honestly, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Got a letter popping up claiming it was from the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. It said I could claim some sort of compensation for buying storage pods. The number they used on the letter was the same one I saw. Bit fishy, if you ask me.

Sounds like a total scam to me, something called Essex and London Properties Ltd. I got in touch with FSCS, but they said this company isn't registered with FCA, so no chance of getting any compensation from them. I'm currently reporting the whole thing to Action Fraud. SMC

They claimed to be calling from FSCS, but you can tell it’s fake straight away because they answer the phone just by saying “Hello,” not by identifying themselves properly as FSCS.
