Never let them get into your computer! They’re total scammers, just trying to rip you off!

My wife got the same message on her laptop, but the issue is her laptop is completely locked now.

Got a pop-up on my laptop saying I had porno spyware and to ring some number right away. Obviously, it wasn’t from Microsoft at all and they just want you to hand over money. If you accidentally gave them control, make sure you get in touch with Microsoft - they do a special scan for free, no charges.

My gran’s computer got hijacked when someone grabbed remote control, swapped out her password and basically held her machine hostage!

No way this is legit - it’s clearly something made up by scammers.

At first, they come across as quite legit, but it quickly becomes obvious they’re trying to get into your computer. After that, they’ll hit you up for cash to ‘check’ for any viruses. Seriously, don’t let them near your device.

So, I got this warning pop up on my laptop and, feeling proper scared, I went ahead and called the number they gave. The person on the line ended up taking control of my laptop remotely and typed in a few things pretty quick. Then showed me a list of supposed problems and said it’d be £300 to fix them. That’s when I twigged what was going on and ended the call. Don’t make my mistake - just turn off your device immediately. Luckily, a mate of the family is having a look at it later to make sure everything’s fine.

This number really freaked me out. They claim you need to call straight away because some sort of adult content virus has infected your computer and will steal your cash. I chose not to call, and thankfully my computer is perfectly fine now. Wouldn't recommend answering or calling back.

While I was using my laptop, a really believable popup showed up and a man claimed to be from Microsoft tech support, telling me my computer was infected with a virus. He started explaining how he would fix it, but I felt something was off. I asked if it was going to cost me anything, and he said between £200 and £300, which made me hang up straight away. After that, I changed all my passwords. Is there anything else I ought to do?

Saw a number pop up on Facebook's dropdown list and decided to ring it. The caller said they were from California, but the accent was clearly from the Indian subcontinent. Pretty clear it’s a dodgy set of scammers based in London. I’m planning a little payback trick for these lot.
