I got called a few times yesterday, like three times, and then four times again today from the same number, so I finally picked up. Some bloke called around 7pm saying I’d won 10 EuroMillions tickets for Friday, and it was my lucky day because I could join some scheme to get 360 tickets over the next three months. I asked how much it would cost, but he just said we’d get to that later and first needed my payment info. I told him no way! He asked why, and I said I don’t play the lottery and can’t afford it. He kept insisting it was just security and tried to get me to share my details three times, but I kept refusing. Then he said I’d definitely win within those three months and would get my money back if I didn't, and I just said nope again. Then he goes on about everyone having some spare cash, which really got my goat. I told him that there are 8.3 million adults in the UK living in poverty, so chances are he’s hitting people who genuinely can’t afford this rubbish. I explained pushing this on folks like that is wrong - it could stop them feeding their families and make them feel terrible about their finances, and that’s really damaging. More than 1.5 million people are struggling with debt and money problems, and it’s linked to mental health issues! I said he’s got a job to do, but he needs to be careful not to upset people. This isn’t a joke or something to exploit - these are serious matters affecting real people who deserve respect. Just my two cents. The number he called from was ‭020 3808 0939‬.
