I've had a few calls from different UK numbers this past week, all claiming there's an issue with my BT internet. Just to be clear, this isn't actually BT calling me.

I got a call at 10:50 right before I was heading out. The guy said there was an issue with my internet connection. When I asked which company he was representing, he just ended the call. Bit odd for a scammer, you'd imagine they’d have a better answer ready for that sort of thing!

I got a call on my home phone from someone saying they were from BT. What freaked me out was that at the exact time, I got an OTP text from BT's usual messaging service on my mobile. Normally, you only get that after entering your regular BT password online. So it seemed like these scammers already had my password but needed the OTP to get in properly. When I asked them to prove who they were, they even told me which phone number I had registered with BT for those OTP messages. I just ended the call right away and changed my password. I've also complained to BT about their security, suggesting they should warn customers more clearly about changing passwords often, especially if their info might have been leaked.
