I got a call from 02038073161 claiming to be HM Income Tax saying I had to ring them back or else there’d be consequences. I decided to check by calling the official tax office helpline, and they told me they never call people, always send letters. So, just ignore these calls, it's definitely a scam.

Got a call on my home phone at about 11 in the morning on the 27th June 2017. The voice said it was from Her Majesty’s Customs, saying they had a claim against me and to press 1 to talk to the officer handling it. I was a bit shaken and just ended the call. Got a voicemail saying I’ve got some legal action against me and to hit 1. I didn’t trust the number it was from, so I searched for the nearest HMRC office through Google instead. Turns out, there’s no info anywhere about any lawsuit like that.
