Today, an elderly lady phoned my 87 year old mum pretending to be with HMRC. She told her she’d got money she wasn’t entitled to and might get prosecuted. Then she told mum to press 1. Luckily, mum was smart enough to just put the phone down there. But I worry how many older folks would be scared and fall for this scam?

Got a call with one of those recorded HMRC messages, so I decided to ring back. Picked up by a guy from a call centre in India, claiming his name was Paul Jones. I told him straight up, "No, that’s not right!" and just ended the call. Definitely a scammer trying their luck.
