I picked up the phone, but all I could hear was silence at first, then a bit of crackling noise before it went dead quiet again. No one said anything.

Yeah, I got the same call from someone claiming to be the trademark office. When did they start handling website registrations anyway? Especially if the site isn’t even trademarked. They tried to tell me they could reserve a “backup website” with the same name for like £260 for 10 years. Ridiculous. I just went online and booked the domain for a year myself for under a quid, sorted easy.

I had a really good experience with these guys, honestly no complaints. They did exactly what they said they would and were proper professional throughout the entire process. The service was spot on.

Got a call from a number that showed up as "Unknown." The person said she was Katie from the Trademark Office in London, like others have mentioned here. She was really pushy, saying someone was attempting to register our domain name. I didn’t hang about and cut them off before they could even mention anything about asking for money. Told them to jog on...

Got a call from 020 3807 0112 saying they're from the Trademark Office. Actually said that someone wanted to buy the [###] version of our domain. Kept pushing me to just say yes or no and said they'd ring back later this afternoon. I told them I’ll have to make sure they’re legit first, so I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting that callback!

I had a couple of calls from someone named Samuel ###, who was pretty pushy and quite rude about sorting out a payment of £258.79 so I could keep a domain name. I’m thinking of reporting it to Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040 because it felt really dodgy.

I got a call from a guy named Michael, claiming he was from the Trademark Office. He said someone was attempting to register our company’s name and we had to get back to him straight away. After checking around a bit, we stumbled on this website and realised right away it’s a scam.

Got a couple of calls from someone named Katie claiming to be from the Trademark Office, saying someone was after our domain name but with a .info extension. She kept pushing that we could "protect our rights" by stopping their trademark application. The whole call felt pretty shady and unprofessional right from the start. Of course, she wanted payment, just like all the other scammy calls folks are mentioning here. I looked up the number she gave me and all these reviews popped up, so glad to see I wasn’t imagining things!

This number 02038070112 rang me two days in a row, someone called Rachel Smith apparently. Figured I’d give a ring back, but just got a weird voicemail. Didn’t really know if it was dodgy or legit, so I checked out this site hoping it’d clear things up, since I thought there'd be some official stuff going on.

Got a call from Jamie at Trade Mark London on 0203 8070112. There was loads of background noise, like a boiler room running through lists. He said someone wanted to register my address but with a .info ending instead of the usual [###]. Then he asked if it would impact my business, offering to register it for me for a small fee. With all the new options now like [###], [###], .pub and endless other endings, it’s just too much to keep up with, so I said no thanks. Seeing some emails later, I think I made the right call.

Got a call from someone named Michael at a trade office. He said that some business was trying to snatch my domain name, and if I wanted to stop that, I’d have to pay £258 to register it for 10 years. I told him I'd need to check things out first. Seemed off to me, and I figured if it was legit, they’d send me details through the post or email.

On Wednesday 22nd February 2017 at 10:19:58, I got a message from someone named Catherine King, supposedly from the Trademark Office. The number she left was 02038070112 extension 978142. The message was something like "Could you please call back about your domain name, it's quite urgent." I played back the voicemail and honestly, Ms King didn’t come across as very sharp and she struggled to answer the questions my assistant had. After reading other folks’ experiences with this, I’m choosing not to ring back.

It appears that there's a bit of a flurry of phone calls happening at the moment. Just got a ring from a chap named Samuel O'Connor (with two 'M's, how amusing!) who was requesting £250 to supposedly prevent another individual from registering a variant of our domain. Funny enough, we can actually grab that for a mere £12 annually!

I got a message on Wednesday, 22nd February 2017 at 10:19:58, purportedly from Catherine King at the Trademark Office. She left the following contact number: Phone: 02038070112 extension 978142. In her message, she stated, "Could you please call back concerning your domain name? This is quite urgent." It’s obvious this is a dodgy attempt to pressurise us into paying over the odds for our current domain names...

Got a call from someone named Emma who claimed to be from the "trademark office." She was telling me that a domain similar to ours but ending with [###] is currently in quarantine. She said we could snap it up for £26 a year if we wanted. I told her I’d ring back later and she gave me this number. After a quick Google search, I found this site and honestly, cheers to everyone who shared their experiences here - it really helped me figure out what’s going on!

Twice, a woman named Emma rang me claiming she represented the Trademark Office. She told me someone was attempting to buy our website domain but with a .eu ending. According to her, she was 'quarantining' it temporarily to prevent others from snapping it up, stating we were the only ones entitled to it. She wanted someone from our IT or PR team to get back to her at 020 3807 0112 to go over the details and share our preferences. When I asked her to put it in an email for confirmation, she said it wasn’t possible because it was supposedly urgent!

Got a call from someone saying they were Nathan at the trademark office, trying to charge me £250 for a decade's worth of domain registration. They mentioned something about the domain being held in quarantine 'cause of some odd request. Thing is, that's not true at all, and the actual charge is just £7.19 each year. Felt like a proper scam.

It appears they’re spinning a tale that suggests someone’s keen on purchasing your domain name and that, for a small fee, they'll allow you to buy it first, effectively keeping the other buyer at bay. The irony is, they’re asking for double the usual price, and it's likely the whole interested party thing is just a ruse.

Got a call from some guy named Arthur at the Trademark and Intellectual Property Office, saying someone was trying to snatch our domain but with a .info ending. He told me to check with our IT team. Instead, I just went ahead and registered the .info myself through our usual provider, costing about £20 for two years. Then I phoned them back a few days later, acting a bit clueless and asked what I should do about it. They then tried to sell me the domain for a whopping £258 for 10 years! Obviously, I said no thanks.

I got a call from someone named "David" claiming he was from the Trademark and Intellectual Property Office. He said someone was copying our website's domain with a ".eu" ending. He didn't give me any real info and came across as quite dodgy. When I called back, I spoke with a guy called Bradley who was all over the place and couldn't explain anything properly.

Got a call from a bloke named David who claimed someone was attempting to register a web domain almost identical to ours but ending with [###]. He wanted to know if I'd be alright with that info being sold to a third party. He said he was with the Trademark & Intellectual Property Office in London, though the number showed as an 'international' one. The number he gave was 020 3807 0112. He told me I could secure the domain for £25.75 per year for ten years, which I wasn’t interested in, so I said no thanks.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone named Arthur, who claimed to represent the trademark office. He mentioned that there's an impending purchase of a domain name quite alike mine. He insisted that I ought to fork out £25 annually to safeguard my web address. Quite the unusual request if you ask me!

Arthur rang me up saying that someone was attempting to purchase a domain name that included our company’s name, finishing with [###]. He claimed to be from the Intellectual Property and Trademark Office, but when I asked a few probing questions, he got quite irritable. His replies started to contradict themselves, so I just ended the call.

This number called me, and a bloke named Arthur was on the line saying someone was trying to grab a domain name like my business’s. It smelt like a sales pitch right away. When I pushed back and questioned him, he admitted he didn’t appreciate my doubtful nature. I ended the call, but he rang me again and proceeded to give me a bit of earache.
