Got a call from some bloke named Jacob telling me my washing machine insurance ran out today - complete rubbish! Definitely a scam to snag my card info.

They claimed there was a warranty for a washing machine linked to my home address. I ended the call rather swiftly-seemed like just another ploy to peddle an extended warranty or guarantee.

I didn’t answer the call at first. Dumbly, I called the number back and it rang once before going to a recorded message that started with “I’m sorry...” I hung up straight away because I was worried it might be one of those scams where you get hit with crazy charges for calling back. After hanging up, I listened carefully and thought I heard a dialling tone, so to be safe, I dialled 1471 to check if I was really disconnected. Since I don’t know anyone with a London number and wasn’t expecting any calls from firms, I’m definitely treating this one with suspicion.
