Received a rather odd phone call this afternoon, where a rather mechanical-sounding voice announced itself as being from HMRC. To my astonishment, I learned that I’m apparently a criminal and could be facing arrest imminently! Utter nonsense, if you ask me. It's crystal clear that this is a scam - HMRC doesn't operate like this at all. They would typically send a letter or an email if there were any issues, not a disembodied voice on the phone! If you happen to get a call from these muppets, don’t engage - just hang up!
