Just got a call from someone claiming to be from the tax office threatening to freeze my NI number. They even mentioned the last 3 digits of an NI, but it wasn’t my own. Definitely a scam, you should never act on anything like that if you get a call like this. It’s dodgy and could lead to trouble.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the tax office. Seemed a bit dodgy to me, like one of those scams. They tried to make it sound urgent and official but I wasn’t buying it! Always best to be careful with calls like that.
