I picked up and it was a guy with an Asian accent trying to sell me life insurance, which I dont have. I told him nicely I’m not interested and to stop calling me. Then he gets all rude and calls me a stupid idiot or something like that. Proper cheeky!

Thinking about doing a TEFL course in London to teach in China. Anyone got experience or advice on what the job market’s like there? Cheers!

They called me two times, saying they wanted to talk about my phone contract. I asked who my phone provider was, and the bloke said 3G. I told him I’m not with 3G and to try scamming someone else. Then he started saying “I scammed your mum and I’m gonna f***k your mum” and just hung up. Honestly, not the slickest scam I’ve seen, you’d think there’d be *some* attempt at being convincing when you’re trying to con people. 🤷‍♀️

This number keeps ringing me about 4 times every day, from early morning right up till evening. I block it but they just call again using a number that's only one digit off. It's really stressing me out bad.

They phoned me briefly, about 5 seconds, then left a voicemail saying they wanted to offer me a job after spotting my CV on CV library. Since then, they keep calling non stop for weeks. Sometimes they pretend to be from an insurance company, other times they just stay silent.

Just like a few others mentioned, they say they're from 'Teach China' and wanna get me to join, even though I ain't interested in teaching or moving overseas. I've blocked their number but they still manage to leave voicemails, which is pretty frustrating. Got two voicemails recently, both exactly the same, so it must be some kind of automated message.

I didnt answer the phone but there was a voicemail left. Took a little bit for the message to start but they said it was some company from China saying they saw my CV online and wanted to offer me a great job. I didnt bother calling back cos it sounded like spam, the message was all crackly and looked like it was some recorded thing.

I had to hang on for a bit before the recorded message started. The caller claimed she was with a firm in China but didn’t give the company’s name, even though she mentioned she had it. She said she found my CV on CV library and thought I was suitable for a role she wanted to talk about. I decided not to call back. Feels like it might be a scam to me.

They keep ringing me even though I blocked their numbers (shows up as blocked in my call history). Just like someone else said, it’s because of my CV on reed[###], even though I’ve clearly stated on my profile that I’m not after a teaching job, especially not abroad.

They just rang me, but I couldn’t pick up quickly enough and it stopped. Got a call today from Teach TEFL about a teaching position in China. I’ve never taught before, but they said they’ll sort out everything needed for the job and relocating to China. Seems to me it’s not a scam since their site looks quite professional and the phone number matches up. Still, I have no idea why they think I wanna teach English in China. I'm so fed up with these calls, especially when they ring so early in the morning. It's even worse when you have a sick relative and your mind jumps to the worst. Ughhh, why is there no way to put an end to them??

Total rip-off, definitely dont call back or you might get hit with crazy high fees. Some woman with a Chinese accent said she found my CV online and wants to offer me a job in China. Yeah, sure, like I’m falling for that!!

Someone got in touch with me about a teaching position for English in China after coming across my CV online. Definitely not a scam.

No idea who’s calling but they keep ringing me. Might be a scam or something, but can’t say for certain since they don’t always leave a message.

I reckon this call is from someone in India tryin to offer an IT support job far away from where I live. They didn’t leave any voicemail either.

I got a couple of calls from someone who said they’d seen my CV on a job board and wanted to know if I was interested in teaching English in China. Honestly, I’m way too busy with my own business and have zero plans to move there or teach, so I politely told them a few times on each call that I wasn’t interested before ending the call.

A few folks here reckon this is for real. I did put my cv up on Total Jobs. But my experience is all in sales and customer service. I’ve got no teaching background and didn’t go to university. So I’m not convinced by the idea of someone offering a teaching job to a person without a degree or any teaching qualifications.

Got a call from TEFL about a teaching gig in China. Not something I'm looking for, but it definitely wasn’t a scam - since my CV’s up on job boards, it seems like a proper legit offer.

Yeah, I reckon this is nothing to worry about. Got a call earlier today from someone saying they’d like to send me an email about a teaching English gig in China after spotting my CV on some site. And sure enough, they did: [#][#]teachengchina[###]/. Felt a bit iffy after the call, but I guess it’s just a way for them to cover their backs so they’re not labelled as spamming.

Received a call regarding a teaching position abroad. They were polite, no hassle, just mentioned they got my CV from a recruitment agency.

What’s wrong with people? TEFL is a well-known firm for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. When you upload your CV on sites like Indeed, Jobsite, or TotalJobs, it includes all your info. The parent company, JAM, shares your CV with others. If you’re not interested in teaching English overseas, just say no. There's no point in just assuming a Chinese accent means it’s some kind of con, RS.

Got a call from a woman with a strong Chinese accent, saying she’d come across my CV and was keen to offer me a gig as a language tutor. Problem is, I’ve never taught languages before! Played along a bit but didn’t share anything personal, then just blocked the number.

Some woman called me about a job in China and said she’d send a link. Honestly, do they really think I’m daft? Totally a scam, best just to hang up and delete the message. Hopefully they just bugger off soon.

Got a call from somewhere in China or something. Don’t understand the language at all and honestly, I really don’t want these calls popping up while I’m trying to find a job. Job hunting’s tough enough without dodging potential scams like this.

Honestly, there's nothing sketchy going on here. It’s just a call about a teaching English position out in China. If it’s not your thing, just say no and they won’t bother you again. They must’ve picked up my CV from indeed which is why they rang me.

Seeing loads of you lot moaning about random calls, it's cuz you've gone and shared your number all over the net. It's actually from a proper company called TEFL. To be honest, they're alright.

Some bloke called about teaching in China. I was suspicious since the number showed as UK. I rang back and got a woman who recognised me and said she’d email me. She claimed she found me through Reed. I told her I’m based in the UK and she said they want native English speakers. Feels like a total scam. I really hope they didn’t mess with my phone when I called back, or else my bill could be massive. Not brilliant when I’m out of work.

Got a call today from 02037731495, but the moment the caller heard my strong accent, they just went quiet which seemed odd to me. Regardless, we all gotta stay alert since loads of dodgy people are out there looking to trick folks.

A woman called me saying she found my CV on Jobsite and was going to send an email about a job opportunity in China. I have no clue where she got my details from, but honestly, I’m not a fan of getting calls like this, especially when I’m seriously hunting for a job. It briefly made me hopeful, but then I just felt annoyed. Really don’t need these sorts of dodgy calls right now.

I’ve gotten calls like this a few times too, about some job in China or something similar. They’re quite pushy but weirdly they seem to know my name. No clue where they dug that info up from, so it’s tricky to stop them ringing again.

A lady with a Chinese accent called me and used my name, saying she’d come across my CV on a job board and wanted to discuss a possible job opportunity. She mentioned she’d send me an email with more info. They rang me about 3 times before I finally answered, definitely quite persistent.

I got a call from a lady with a Chinese accent, saying she'd found my CV on Reed (which is true, I have one there) and asked if I'd be open to a job opportunity in China. The phone number showed as an 0203 code. We chatted briefly before she told me she’d send the information over email.

I missed the call earlier and when I checked the voicemail, the person sounded really pushy, talking about some unclear job opportunity in China. They said they got my info from jobsearch[###], but I've never even been on that website before. Quite odd really.

The number looked unfamiliar so I just ignored it straight away. Later I got a voicemail with a bit of background noise from a call centre, then a lady mentioned they’d found my CV on some job website for a role in China. Trouble is, the company name was mumbo jumbo, couldn’t catch what she said. Funny thing is, I’ve never even been on that particular job site, so how they managed to get my phone number is a total mystery.

Totally a scam call. My Galaxy S9 flagged it straight away as a job scam, so I ignored it. They still left a voicemail about a teaching gig in China, supposedly based on my CV from Reed. I’m a chef, no idea how they think I’d teach science! Honestly, just a waste of time, so don’t bother answering.

Got a call on a public holiday, so I immediately guessed it was a spam call, maybe from abroad. They left a voicemail claiming they'd found my CV on jobsite[###], which sounds about right. But while she spoke, another voice started talking over her saying the same thing, almost like some kind of automated message. Definitely not ringing them back.

This elderly Chinese woman, who had one leg that was noticeably shorter than the other, called herself Irene. I guess she was hinting that she constantly leans because of that difference. Sad situation, but no way was I going to hop on a plane to China just to teach English for her. Funny thing is, she never actually shared her real name with me!
