11 yearsI got a call yesterday from someone claiming I’d been overcharged and they wanted me to share the details of my bill. I responded by saying that if they were the real deal, they would obviously have that information at their fingertips. The chap just hung up on me! Not long after, a so-called manager called back with the exact same nonsense. It’s got scam written all over it! Cheers, RichardRichard11 yearsJust like me, they’ve been ringing loads - got a call again yesterday and it’s been a few times over the months. The bloke on the line had a really strong Indian accent, proper pushy, and you could hear a bunch of people chatting in the background like it’s some dodgy call centre. It’s pure boiler room scam stuff. They try to chat about your energy deal and push you to switch to British Gas - yeah, British Gas - but it’s all fake; they know nothing really. They keep pestering you for your meter number, which you should NEVER give out. Yesterday, I messed around with them for like half an hour, kept bouncing them from one department to another. Told them the bloke who handles our energy supply slipped and knocked himself out retrieving the bill they wanted, so he’d call back. And wouldn’t you know, they rang back today. Left them on hold for another 15 minutes and then hung up, but they called right back again, so kept them on for another ten. Proper laugh for a Friday afternoon. Just outwit them at their own game. Oh, and they said they were from a firm called WISE, claiming to be working with British Gas. Watch out for that name if they ring you.BlimeyBritish GasWISECaller11 yearsIt's the same old story with this energy provider, isn't it? I end up straight back to their relentless hold music every time they ring, yet they seem to think it’s appropriate to persistently dial me back. It's quite tiresome, really!11 yearsUtter nonsense! Someone rang me claiming to represent EON, only to start prying into my bill details. It was absurd and downright impolite. They were annoyingly persistent, introducing themselves as Paul Parker-very original, eh? When I inquired further, they just chuckled. Just a heads-up to everyone, exercise caution!EONPaul Parker11 yearsI just had a rather unpleasant telephone encounter with this number at our office. It was eerily similar to what others have already described. A chap with a strong Indian accent was on the line, inquiring if we had received our energy bill. He insisted that I fetch it right away and divulge its contents - quite pushy and rather difficult to comprehend. When I probed about his location, he simply kept insisting on the energy bill instead of providing any sensible responses. I decided to cut the conversation short when it became clear he was dodging my questions. It feels like there's some sort of scam afoot here - best not to share any details with these people.11 yearsI’ve received four calls from this number over the span of just two days concerning my energy bill. It seems they've accessed my contract from some online database of companies. The gentleman I spoke to had an Indian accent, sounding distinctly like he was calling from abroad, and his manner was rather discourteous. When I politely asked him to refrain from calling me again, he had the audacity to chuckle and demand, “Who’s your energy supplier, and what was the bill last month?” I simply refused to engage, and then he insisted on speaking to the individual responsible for the energy payments. Mind you, I’m a youthful-sounding woman who manages her own finances! At that point, I felt quite insulted and made it clear that I was blocking his number and that I did not wish to receive any further calls.12 yearsHave you found these responses to be of assistance? They were looking for Mr. XXX-clearly mispronouncing the name of my boss. Their inquiry was about whether we'd gotten our latest electricity bill, but they failed to mention who our supplier was. It all seemed a bit off, so I decided to hang up.XXXSubmit Your Own Report (020 3770 2999)
