Had a rather peculiar chat with a chap who had a rather pronounced accent, claiming he was ringing from Manchester, yet the number clearly belonged to a London area. Even after he kindly spelled out the business name for me, I still couldn’t quite grasp which firm he represented. Like most others ringing from these 020 numbers, he insisted he was after the business owner. When I inquired about the nature of his call, he mentioned finances, claiming my company had “qualified for an unsecured loan.” I politely interjected to inform him that we weren't interested and expressed that I had the authority to request he cease contacting us. I repeated my request three times to have our number scrapped from their list, and mentioned that, given the call was being recorded on their end, if they were to ring again, I wouldn’t hesitate to report them to the ICO. In a surprising turn, he announced that HE’d be hanging up, and proceeded to disconnect the call.
