I received a call claiming I’d taken out some insurance for my fuse box. I informed the caller that the fuse box actually belongs to my housing association, but they just hung up on me. I’ve had a look at my bank statements, and there’s been no deduction made.

They keep dodging any proper company name and are hassling my 84-year-old mum, trying to get £60 off her to cancel some supposed nuisance call protection contract. They even threatened to nick £145 from her bank for supposed arrears going back three years or drag her to court. She was absolutely distraught, trembling and crying. I answered the phone next and after they started being rude to me, I let them have it with some choice Anglo-Saxon language and told them exactly where to go.

They insisted I’d signed some papers back in 2018 to confirm this. I asked them to send me the documents in the post for proof, but they wouldn’t back down. Suddenly, they said they were going to take the money straight from my bank and pressed some button - then the call just cut off.

I received a call from a firm named Cover Time Direct, claiming to discuss a £99 policy that my husband supposedly purchased back in January 2019, linked to a Panasonic television. The thing is, we’ve never signed up for any sort of policy on any television. I even took the time to comb through our bank statements from that period, and there’s definitely no trace of such a transaction. Honestly, I reckon this company deserves to be flagged as HIGHLY SUSPECT.

She was pushing for me to renew my cover for the television, aerial, and all those viewing gadgets at a discounted rate because, apparently, I hadn’t made any claims this year. When I told her I didn’t recall ever hearing of them before or that I wouldn’t have opted for such cover, she suggested I must’ve simply forgotten, even going as far as mentioning a payment from my RBS card. I clearly expressed my lack of interest, and you wouldn’t believe it - she then chastised me for ‘wasting her time’. How rude! Just a word of caution to others - watch out for this lot!
